“When we face up to the Glory of God, we find ourselves facedown in worship.” – Matt Redman.
Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around him. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. When I saw it, I fell facedown, and I heard the voice of one speaking. (Ezekiel 1:28) As we see God in His majesty, awesomeness, and holiness, we are humbled before Him. In the Scriptures in which man was privileged to view God in His glory, man was brought low or humbled in His presence. Ezekiel fell face down; Moses bowed to the ground and worshipped; Isaiah cried, “Woe is me!”; John fell at His feet. Even the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders in heaven of Revelation fell down before the throne of the glorified Lamb. Falling facedown in worship is a real genuine reflection of an overwhelmed heart. Throughout the Scriptures, the Glory of God plays an important role upon making ordinary man be broken in spirit. Matt Redman’s FACEDOWN Lyrics Welcomed in to the courts of the King I’ve been ushered in to Your presence Lord, I stand on Your merciful ground Yet with every step tread with reverence And I’ll fall facedown As Your glory shines around Yes, I’ll fall facedown As Your glory shines around Who is there in the heavens like You?
