Thinking Out Loud

Thinking Out Loud

There’s a new song from Ed Sheeran’s X (Deluxe Edition) album that makes me “Kilig” (delightfully, giggly, giddy feeling) everytime I listen to it. I stumbled upon this song on Spotify and started to play it every so often. Like most of his other songs, it talks about his “love” for someone. He wants to grow old with this woman and he uses such romantic phrases to emphasize it.

As I ruminate the lyrics of the song, I want to own it, dedicate it to someone or, feel like it was dedicated to me. haha! Kidding!

The verses of the song describe how things will change throughout life. They will grow old. legs don’t work like they used to before… hair’s all but gone and my memory fades

They will become weak physically and their memories will eventually fade. But one thing is for sure, he is confident that she will still love him just the same.
When my hands don’t play the strings the same way
I know you will still love me the same

“Aging can be scary but growing old with your loved one is a blessing. “

Blessing – a wonderful gift from God. And Sharing your life with someone you love is indeed a blessing especially when God is involved in your relationship. As C.S. Lewis said, “Love that becomes a god, becomes a demon. Submit all your love, therefore, to the one that is Love.

And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand

And maybe it’s all part of a plan

They say falling in love is a magical experience. The circumstances under which people fall in love are so random and odd that sometimes you wonder if it is all planned. A simple change in someone’s day, like randomly deciding to take a walk, could mean that they meet the love of their life and change their world forever.

Yes, people fall in and out of love all the time, but that’s only because people believe that love is something to be found – a tangible thing that exists as an entity of its own. That it’s something that can be lost. This is such a sad definition of love.

“Falling in love maybe an accident, but staying in love is a decision”

Love is a decision. Choose to love and then refuse to let it slip away.

Well, me—I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am.

This is just tooooooo sweeeeeeet. Please.

When he’s with this girl, he falls in love with her in all possible ways, not once in his life, but everyday he sees her.

“Love is not about how many days, months or years you’ve been together. Love is about how much you love each other EVERYDAY. -unknown”

One of my favorite lines is ‘Cause honey your soul could never grow old, it’s evergreen

Comparing her soul to “evergreen” was really touching. It’s like saying her soul is always going to be beautiful in his eyes… always. *blush*

And baby, your smile’s forever in my mind and memory
And I’m thinking about how

Referring back to the first line of the verse, even when Ed is losing his memory, he won’t forget even the smallest details about his girl.

And maybe we found love right where we are

Ed has found love in his imagination as he is hoping to have a relationship with a girl.

What are your thoughts about the song?

Anyway, here’s the full lyrics of the song. Enjoy 😉

“Thinking Out Loud”

When your legs don’t work like they used to before
And I can’t sweep you off of your feet
Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love?
Will your eyes still smile from your cheeks? And, darling, I will be loving you ’til we’re 70
And, baby, my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Well, me—I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am

So honey now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I’m thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are

When my hair’s all but gone and my memory fades
And the crowds don’t remember my name
When my hands don’t play the strings the same way
I know you will still love me the same
‘Cause honey your soul could never grow old, it’s evergreen
And, baby, your smile’s forever in my mind and memory
I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe it’s all part of a plan
Well, I’ll just keep on making the same mistakes
Hoping that you’ll understand

But, baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
Thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are

So, baby, now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Oh, darling, place your head on my beating heart
I’m thinking out loud
That maybe we found love right where we are
Oh, baby, we found love right where we are
And we found love right where we are

There is nothing like a mom’s love – they do things selflessly.

Imagine carrying a life for 9 months, the pain of giving birth. A mother faces tremendous amount of pain which is equivalent to 20 bones getting fractured at the same time (yes, too painful to imagine!)

Only mothers can do it.

(This isn’t a mother’s day post but I just want to honor my Mom for being an awesome Mom)

I will never be too old to ask for my mom’s advice or a good night kiss and warm hugs. Hers is the purest form of love in this world. There is no match to it. My mom has a never ending supply of unconditional and irrevocable love. She remembers the date, the day and the moment when her children were born. The first day I succeeded in walking with my feet, the day I went to school and the first crush I had in school. All those things are engraved in her memories.

She knows if I’m okay or not. Whenever I’m sick, she always has the perfect medication for all. She knows the home remedies for the common colds and allergies and other infections. No matter what, she knows the secret of how to make me feel better.

Last week, I had a fever, cough and colds. More than the pharmacologic effect of taking antipyretic and antitusive drugs, my mom’s therapeutic touch helped me to get well. The incredible healing effect of a mother’s touch.

I wish I had that healing effect on her too – that she’ll feel better whenever she’s sick.

I’ve been doing  q10 minutes blood pressure monitoring for mommy since 4pm today. She’s experiencing on/off headache with a pain scale of 7/10 down to 5/10 now. She doesn’t have any difficulty in breathing (Thank God). Way back 2008, Mommy was diagnosed with Hypertension. That same year, she also had a mild stroke. I still remember how I felt when she was confined in the hospital. I felt sunken. I felt anxious. I felt scared. We all prayed for her, and by God’s grace she got better. From then on, I am always involved with her daily check-ups, maintenance medicine and her over all health and lifestyle (including diet modification and exercise) again, by God’s grace, she’s always fine and any deviation on her LDL/HDL, Tryglicerides were corrected and/or close to normal.

I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and in our “Medical and Surgical Nursing” subject, my favorite topic is the Cardiovascular System, which I memorized and understood by heart. That time, it was so clear to me why I took that course – to take good care of mommy. But the con of it was that every symptom that is present in my mom is a fast-paced prognosis in my mind, which leads me to worrying. But the Bible never fails to remind me not to worry and only He can provide healing and restore good health.

1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (NLT)

1Peter 2:24 He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. (NLT)

God is ever faithful and always a great source of strength and finances we need. My Mom and Dad have health cards that cover their check-ups and even provide discounts for medicines. They are strong enough to perform daily activities and chores. They’re even actively participating in church activities including victory group and ministry.I thank God for sustaining Mom and also Dad.

Praying for immediate healing for mommy right now, I just don’t want to see her in pain or feeling any discomfort. If you’re reading this, please stand with me in prayer. Thank you. 🙂

We’re Expecting A Baby!

When’s the right time to tell others that you’re pregnant? Do you really have to wait until second trimester? What if I am too excited and I just can’t help it? I want everyone else to know that we’re having a new member in the family!

Disclaimer: Just in case you’re not going to finish reading my blog post, please don’t gossip. I am not pregnant. Haha!

Before the end of September, I received a message on our family group chat in Viber – a picture which read, “Pregnancy Uterine 6 weeks and 1 day” sent by my sister-in-law.  My current brother is going to be a future father which will make him a brother father! ISN’T IT NICE? I am so happy! I could already picture myself holding that cute small baby child, taking care of my first pamangkin. (Oh, the happiness of being an aunt…. can you feel it?)

So, will Tita Ninang Aubrey be spoiling the baby? Yes! I’ll be buying loads of gifts. I honestly can’t wait.

I totally struggled to keep it a secret (I don’t even know if this is a secret…) shouting it from the rooftops is a more accurate way to put it. I just want to share my overflowing joy for my brother, Kuya Jeff and his wife, Ate Kath.

While counting and waiting for the next 8 months, stand with us in praying for my sister-in-law. That she’ll have a safe pregnancy and an uncomplicated delivery and of course, a normal healthy awesome, amazing, adorable baby child.

She’s our furry baby in the office. She has the most adorable and sweetest way of greeting us every morning. Her tail is wagging and her excitement is contagious. She is very smart! She can do lots of tricks that will entertain you and will give you enough reason to give her a treat, or at least, a good rub on her belly.

I can still remember the first time I saw her. Kevin (her owner/father) bought her and I went with him at Festival Mall. She was so small, and cute (of course!), her eyes is so expressive – it seems like she has a lot to say. From then on, going to the office is extra special because Nica is there. 😉 Having a dog in the workplace increased morale and productivity. She became a stress reliever for most of us – a living “stress ball”, she naturally alleviate stress.

Nica also helps build camaraderie in the office. It is an inherent advantage of having a pet to gather around (especially when she has new tricks and we’re watching at her). She has the positive vibe that facilitates conversation among co-workers too.

I also love how Nica is being so affectionate. That makes her a man’s bestfriend and a favored companion. Lately, I find myself getting a lot of comfort from her. I have been comforted by her presence, just looking at her helps me feel better. I love cuddling her. Cuddling is not something that you can teach, but it is instinctual. I like the feeling when she’s resting her jaw on my shoulder and receives all the “gigil” I have for her.

Study says dogs increases our “happy-hormone” (I couldn’t agree more). I have read one article in the internet which says, Oxytocin Increases When Your Dog Looks at You.  Oxytocin is the hormone that increases when we kiss or hug a loved one. It is also the same hormone that is present when you are “breast-feeding” that creates a mother-baby bonding. So, you aren’t really crazy when you’re thinking that your pet is your baby. 🙂 The bond is woven from the same stuff anyway.

I have my own “babies” / dogs at home. Tasha and Esau, and our guard dog, Dondy. I love all of them! It’s just that, I happened to spend most of my time at work – with Nica and she has that “extraordinary” sweetness. Disclaimer: I have no favoritism 😛

Both canines and humans can be trained to coexist in a workspace that nurtures productivity and creativity and at the same time – love. Agree?
